MIEM HSE - Institute with 56 years of history, trains specialists for high-tech industries. Teaching staff MIEM includes 1 Academic of RAS, 4 Corresponding Member of RAS, 34 winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation. Close ties with leading industry institutions: RAS institutes, international companies such as National Instruments, InfoWatch, Zyxel, QNAP, Altium Limited, as well as laboratories equipped with the latest : 3D visualization; laser technologies; telecommunications; cybersecurity - allow to prepare for specialists at the highest level.
Professor Lev Shchur, Academic Supervisor of the master's programme in Supercomputer Simulations in Science and Engineering, and Professor Hai-Qing Lin, Director of Beijing Computational Science Research Center (CSRC) have signed a cooperation agreement for implementing a joint research project in computational physics and high performance computing.
Participation in this project will allow HSE students, doctoral students, young researchers and professors to visit the CSRC centre, one of the largest research centres in computational physics and computational algorithms, for a week or a month. In addition, long-term joint research work in the CSRC centre for a period of one to three years is also possible. Research work of doctoral students and research fellows will be supervised by Professor Lev Shchur regardless of their internship duration. Research funding will be provided by CSRC.
СSRC centre started working in spring 2015. It is located in the North-West of Beijing in the Z-Park area. Z-Park is, in fact, the software ‘silicon valley’ of China. For example, the headquarters of the Baidu company (the Chinese equivalent of Google) is situated there.
The centre conducts research in computational sciences, with a focus on computational physics and the development of efficient algorithms. Researchers operate a smaller version of the Tianhe 2 supercomputer (the 4th most powerful computer in the world) on a 1/6 scale of the original, called Tianhe2-JK. Project participants will have access to this cluster for research.
Renowned researchers from different countries, as well as experts in computational physics and high performance computing cooperate with the centre.
