From November 6 to 10, the 30th Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC 2018) was held under the auspices of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in Kyoto, Japan.
The Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference is the largest conference on microwave electronics and technology in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the three largest conferences on the subject in the world along with the International Microwave Symposium (IEEE/MTT-S IMS) held in North America and the European Microwave Week (EuMW). The conference was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center, in which the Kyoto Protocol on Environmental Protection was adopted and signed, and was held under the motto “Harmonious World Connected by Microwaves”, which emphasizes the irreplaceable role of microwave technologies in the information and communication structure of modern civilization. More than 500 reports from all over the world on advanced scientific and technical topics such as 4G / 5G, the Internet of Things, the creation of new communication systems and networks, high-frequency antennas and power sources, as well as the use of microwave technologies in medicine, biotechnologies, chemistry, etc. were presented at the conference.
MIEM HSE was represented by Semyon Presnyakov, a first-year postgraduate student of the School of Electronic Engineering. He presented his paper 'Investigation of Extension Limits of Main Passband of the “Chain of Coupled Resonators”-Type Slow-Wave Structure”' at the Interactive Forum of the conference. In addition, the poster of the Laboratory of Microwave Electronics, Microwave and Laser Technologies was presented at a Special Exhibition of the conference devoted to laboratories working on microwave topics from various institutes around the world. The exhibition was open for the whole duration of the conference. In addition, during the Opening Ceremony, plans were announced to hold one of the future Asia-Pacific Microwave Conferences in the Russian Urals.
